A favicon is the little logo in the browser tabs for a website. A WordPress favicon is the same as a favicon on any other website, but there are tools for WordPress which make setting up a favicon even easier.
What is a favicon?
The favicon is the icon that appears in the browser tab for each website page. Each web page can have a favicon, but most websites simply use one favicon for all pages.
The purpose of a favicon is to provide identification and branding. Favicons assist with sorting through browser tabs, and providing a visual association between brand and content.
Favicons can also be detected and used in other software, like a bookmark library.
